My xbox 360 plays dvd's but not games? help please?
My xbox recently broke well.... i got the open disc tray error and my xbox was out of warranty so i decided to fix it my self and brought a new disc drive. I then swapped the PCB chips over from the disc drives so that the new disc drive had my old pcb chip in. Once done it worked for ages probs about a month where I was playing games on xbox live etc... Then the other day I tried playing a game and the game loads up and as soon as i press a button the game freezes and says unreadable disc or just freezes and i have to switch my xbox off. I can still go online and play arcade games and stuff and i recently tried a dvd and that worked, which i thought to be quite strange.
I opened the xbox back up to make sure all the wires i soldered and to make sure i re-soldered them.So i need your help on the matter? do i have to buy a new disc drive and do the cycle again or is it screwed?
I ent flashing it that means cant go on xbox live and thats the only reason why i have xbox :L
The Kinect update from Xbox Live on November 1, 2010 caused a large number of Xbox 360 to stop reading official discs and only give an "open tray" message on even non-modded consoles. Microsoft still hasn't fixed the issue. There is also a new January 19, 2011 update that is now also giving people similar problems.
There is a very large topic on the November 2010 update problems at the official forums. But it was recently closed by the moderators...

There are some new topics on the January 2011 update problems. Simply sign into the forum with your Microsoft Live ID and add your complaint to it to pressure Microsoft to fix it...
