This tape is the DDS format's fifth version, which offers incredible 72 GB compressed recording capability. It developed by Quantum is CDM72. Quantum DAT 72 tape cartridge has a durable and ultra smooth base film.
Quantum manufactures both DAT-72 tape drives and DAT72 backup media tapes. With this tape technology, you can meet the challenges of data rich environments and strict data retentions laws at an affordable price. This drive has an incredible data transfer speed which reaches 25.2 GB/hour, which is in compressed mode. Certification by the "Backup Ready" Solution proves the reliability and unmatched performance of Quantum DAT-72 tape format.
Quantum has used its technical expertise to elevate the cost efficiency and reduce the operational and maintenance cost of DAT 72 tape drive. Intelligent storage solution of this tape format ensures solid investment protection. Daily routine tasks of data administrators have become easier, as they can connect the Quantum DAT-72 tape drive with the leading servers through the USB ports or directly connect it to its internal SATA drive. The media capacity of DAT-72 data tape is 8 percent greater than the previous DDS-4 tape generation. Quantum DAT-72 drives has the advantageous ability to retrieve the recorded data from DDS4 and DDS3 media cartridges. It can also record new information to these media tapes.
Good news is that the customers can access more than one DDS tape generations with the Quantum tape drive. DAT-72 Quantum drive can extract information from Quantum DDS-3 tape (CDM24), Quantum DDS-4 tape (CDM40) and Quantum DAT-72 backup tape (CDM72). As mentioned before, these DDS tapes are also write compatible.
Quantum DAT-72 drive utilizes the DDS CDMCL cleaning cartridge. CDMCL cleaning cartridge has been developed by Quantum. Quantum DAT-72 drive is designed for longer working life. That is why Quantum has employed latest features which include "Tape Shield "technology. Tape-shield seals the tape-to-head interface and protects them from the airborne contaminants and pollutants. Tape-shield technology is very helpful in extending the useful life of Quantum media and drive. This technology assists the I.T managers to make easy and cost effective up gradations of their backup storage systems. Backward compatibility is a major feature of DAT-72 tape drive that saves the additional investments of the clients.
Quantum offers high performance "Backup Ready" solutions with its DAT-72 tape drive to provide greater flexibility and choice to the users. This includes Backup QuickStart Exec software which is easy to install, user friendly, and is supported by Quantum. It offered with multiple configurations. Therefore the customers can select the drive configuration which meets their requirements.
