Steps in fabric painting
My article will be helpful to those interested in art work. Some say art as god's gift. But I believe it's purely based on interest and patience. Here are some basic steps for beginners and some tips for those who know it already.
- Muslin cloth is good for practice. Wash it to remove starch, dry, iron to free from wrinkles.
- For beginners it's good to choose some floral pattern. Trace the design with carbon sheet. Yellow carbon is preferable since it will not show the impression after painting.
- Use wooden frame to clasp cloth firmly. Mount the picture to the centre of the frame.
- Use 000 ziana deluxe brush for good result. The number shows the degree of fineness of the bristles.
- Now apply white colour (fabric acrylic colours) to a petal as base colour, then take appropriate colour suitable for the petal. Dip paint in the tip of the brush and give upward strokes over the white colour before it dries. Dip only once for a petal to get shade in gradient.strokes should be done in free hand,which you will get in practice.
- Repeat the same for all petals.
- For leaves use lemon yellow for base and olive green or dark green to shade over.
- Now your picture is beautifully done.
Now you can paint your dresses, bedspreads and curtains and add charm to your households.
Tips to follow:
- Dry fabric in shade for 24 hours after painting. Iron fabric in reverse direction before washing for life.
- Be careful not to spill paint in the rest in material since it can't be removed easily.
- .Number of attractive colours with different shades is now available in market.
- Use water in minimum for synthetic material while liberal amount of water for cotton fabrics.
- Outline is not necessary.
