The Stunning Allure of Princess Cut Vintage Rings
Created well over five decades ago rings with square-shaped gems are known as Princess Cut vintage rings. This vintage ring is placed one step ahead of the other round cut or brilliant gems. A precisely and beautifully crafted shape will add to the beauty of both the diamond as well as the person wearing it. That's why there are many buyers for this vintage ring.
Grading of a Princess Cut Diamond - Generally, the gem laboratory grades the gem studded in the ring and will issue a certificate stating its authenticity. AGA, AGSL, EGL-USA, and GIA are some of the popular evaluators.
There are detailed specifications for evaluating the "Ideal Cut" for the brilliant cut gems. However, there is no specific accord as to the "Ideal cut" of Princess Cut gems. Currently the GIA as not even certifing the cut of diamond.
Finding Princess Cut Vintage Rings - While shopping if one looks for a square cut gem ring one can locate many of them in the vintage ring market. However, it would be quite difficult if one is firmly looking for the exact square Princess Cut gem ring. True Princess Cut rings have only been available in the past few decades. Again if it is the style that matters to the buyers and not the age of the ring there are a large number of such rings available in the market.
Princess Cut Settings - As a thumb rule of engineering the strength is divided across the radius if the corners are rounded, hence, they are stronger as compared to a sharp cornered article. This is the reason why the Princess Cut gems can easily chip on the corners compared to a round shaped gem. Most square cut gems are set in a manner to have the prongs on all the corners in order to give strength and avoid chipping of the edges. It is then set in a ring to give either square or diamond shape appearance based on its alignment to the ring.
A Princess Cut Vintage Ring can make for a beautiful engagement, wedding, or everyday ring. Personally when purchasing a diamond I look for what I believe to be exquisite. This includes the sparkle and the historical value. If you agree with these consider a few options.
You can easily hunt for a perfectly designed setting and then ask your local jeweler to add a diamond for you, which would resemble a princess Cut vintage ring. You would certainly love to wear a ring designed by yourself rather than opting for the opinion of the general public or a jeweler.
